SUMMARY:Online - Hill Country Night Sky Team Meeting
DESCRIPTION:TEAM MEETING & PRESENTATION \nWe hope you will join us on Tuesday\, March 14\, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. CST for our Hill Country Night Sky Team Meeting. \nAs you may know\, the Texas Hill Country is home to 12 International Dark Sky Places as designated by the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA). Currently\, there are 14 communities and parks at various stages of this application process\, and another dozen or so are likely to begin the process in three to five years. The application process is lengthy and extensive\, taking a village (or team) to achieve. Some of you are already actively involved in the process with one or more of these applicants. Some of you would like to help but don’t yet know how. \nOur guest presenter will be Amber Harrison\, Dark Sky Places Program Associate with the International Dark Sky Association. In her previous work as a park ranger and interpreter for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department\, she completed several applications to the IDA Dark Sky Places Program for public lands in West Texas. Amber was also one of the key team members behind the application and designation of the Greater Big Bed International Dark Sky Reserve. She brings her extensive knowledge and management of the program to our meeting\, presenting a primer on the application process\, speaking on the program’s intricacies\, and teaching how members of the Hill Country Night Sky Team can participate. You are not going to want to miss this talk! \nThose who cannot arrive or sign on promptly at 1:00 p.m. are welcome to join whenever their schedule allows. The meeting and presentation will be recorded and posted for future reference. \nZOOM DETAILS \nTopic: Winter Hill Country Night Sky Team Meeting\nTime: March 14\, 2023 01:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada) \nClick here to join the Zoom Meeting\nMeeting ID: 833 8337 0375\nPasscode: 594939 \nOne tap mobile\n+13462487799\,\,83383370375# US (Houston)\n+12532158782\,\,83383370375# US (Tacoma) \n
