Becoming a Legacy Circle Member

By naming the Hill Country Alliance as a beneficiary in your estate plans, you play a vital role in preserving the beauty and natural resources of the Hill Country for generations to come. Your legacy gift can be directed in ways that support our conservation efforts, educational programs, and advocacy initiatives that align with your values. Whether you choose to contribute to our Endowment Fund to secure our long-term sustainability, make a restricted gift to a specific program area, or provide an unrestricted donation to support our Operating Fund, we will honor your generosity with the utmost care and stewardship.

Planned Giving FAQs

What is a Planned Gift?

A planned gift is a charitable donation made during your lifetime but allocated to a nonprofit after your passing. It often involves bequests, trusts, or other financial instruments that support causes you care about while offering potential tax benefits. These gifts can be tailored to your financial goals and legacy, ensuring your values make a lasting impact for future generations.

How do I include HCA in my will?

Gifts by will are one of HCA’s most important sources of support. Unrestricted gifts give us the greatest flexibility to use funds where they are most needed. However, you are welcome to place a gift designation on your contribution as well.

You may leave HCA:

  • A stated dollar amount
  • A percentage of your residual estate (what remains after gifts to loved ones and expenses have been paid), or
  • Specific liquid assets, such as securities

How do I name HCA as a beneficiary on my accounts?

Naming Hill Country Alliance (HCA) as a beneficiary on your retirement account or life insurance policy is a simple and powerful way to support our program work and ensure the sustainability of our future. To do this, you don’t have to change your will or living trust. Beneficiary designation gifts pass directly to HCA without going through the probate process and go right to work to help us continue to make a lasting impact throughout the Texas Hill Country.

Retirement Accounts

Many of our donors name HCA as a beneficiary of all or a specified percentage of their IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other retirement plan.

Individuals who inherit retirement plan assets are usually required to pay income tax on them, so they’re often considered among the best assets to leave to charity.

How to name HCA as a beneficiary on your retirement accounts

Ask your retirement plan administrator or financial institution for a change of beneficiary form.

Please list us as:

  • Legal Name: Hill Country Alliance
