The Hill Country Alliance, in partnership with KerrEDC Long Term Recovery River Working Group and funded by Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, is providing grass seed to landowners and land stewards whose riparian areas were impacted by the July 2025 floods. Our riparian restoration seed blends were curated by local experts and include stabilizing grass species like Blackwell Switchgrass, Alamo Switchgrass, Van Horn Green Sprangletop, Sand Dropseed, Haskell Sideoats Grama, and Maximilian Sunflower that are well suited for holding soil and preventing erosion. Given time, “riparian roots reinforce riverbanks” explains natural resource specialist and wildlife biologist, Steve Nelle. The seed blends are provided in 8- and 4-pound bags. An 8-pound bag covers approximately one acre. This calculation translates to about 800 linear feet of waterfrontage by a width of 50 feet.
