The Hill Country Living + Rainwater Revival FESTIVAL returns to the Dripping Spring Ranch Park on Saturday, October 20, from 10am to 5pm. This free, one-day event promises something for everyone who loves the Texas Hill Country – whether you live there now, plan a move in the future, or visit often. The Hill Country Alliance (HCA), FESTIVAL planner, has packed the day with fun things to do and good things to learn about living lightly in our precious Hill Country.
As always, the FESTIVAL celebrates the common sense of rainwater harvesting, but will also include vendors, speakers, and activities on land and wildlife management, water conservation, renewable energy, green home design and building, night sky lighting, sustainable products, and more. Speakers throughout the day will share their expertise on everything from bee keeping to planting native and buying and selling rural land.
New this year is the Real Estate Rodeo, a classroom setup in the “bronc” pen where realtors can earn up to three hours of Continuing Education Credits in the morning, before turning to the more serious side of having some fun. In the afternoon, a series of in depth classes are offered for rural landowners wanting to learn more about wildlife management tax strategies, realities of a hot real estate market, and liability protection and risk management. Classes are free.
On the lighter (and wetter) side of things, attendees can enjoy wine from select Hill Country wineries, toss back a cup of joe from Big Bend Coffee Roasters, or wet their whistles with Richards Rainwater. In the arena will be a tiny home village, tricked-out travel trailers, tools and tips for land managers, large collection tanks, and little friendly chickens. Festival-goers will find a smorgasbord of tasty offerings in the Food Truck Court and some toe-tapping tunes on the Hill Country Music Stage, sponsored by Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
FESTIVAL planners and sponsors are excited to showcase the king and queen of Hill Country music, Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis, who will play an up-close and personal set from 3:30 to 5pm. At the noon hour, Jomo and the Possum Posse will take the stage for an eclectic western sound that is certain to include their viral YouTube hit, “Man on a Buffalo.”
Just for the kiddos, the Raindrop Stop offers a variety of activities from the Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center, the Hill Country Science Mill, and a hands-on, friendly snake and reptile display from Homies with Scales. Plus, “Mr. Will” DuPuy plays a lively musical showcase for kids of any age on the music stage at 10:30 am.
