Host an Event

Ready, Set, Host!

Ready to host an event? We’re here to help! Follow the steps below for a streamlined planning experience, and be sure to download our toolkit for a suggested menu of event ideas, engaging graphics, communications templates, social media hashtags, and other helpful resources to host your event. After you decide what type of event you want to host, register it with us and we will add it to the Event Calendar.

Step 1: Imagine your event

What kind of event do you want to have? Check out our suggested events guide here. When planning an event, it is important to keep in mind audience, partners and promotions when brainstorming activities and events. Know who you want to reach, who can help, who you would like to be involved and how you can get the word out.

Step 2: Register your event

Once your event has been created, click here to submit your event to the Hill Country Night Sky Month Calendar. When submitting an event, please include the location of your event in the title and select “Night Sky Month” from the Event Categories list to ensure your event is properly displayed. After submission, please allow 1-2 business days until events are approved.

After your event is approved, we will send you a link to your Hill Country Night Sky Month Promotions Toolkit.

Step 3: Spread the word

Communication works best when it happens on multiple levels! We have assembled a toolkit featuring a flyer template, graphics, and press release to make it easier for you.

The Toolkit is designed to help you:

  • Email your friends, partners, and local news stations about the event.
  • Write a press release for your event and share it with your local newspaper.
  • Use colorful graphics and vibrant images to get the word out on social media.
  • Follow #NightSkyMonth on Twitter and Instagram!

Step 4: Meet new partners!

The best way to get folks to know about your event? Ask them what they’ve got planned – you might even make a friend! Explore #NightSkyMonth and find out what other night sky champions are doing to celebrate and educate.
